Cleaning: Dirty feeders spread disease. We recommend disinfecting your nectar feeders every three to five days, or more frequently if you notice your nectar has become cloudy. Soak all parts in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Use a bird feeder brush to brush away grime inside the feeder.

Super cute, but not great results

I was given this feeder to test run in exchange for an honest review. First, what I love: this feeder is quite pretty and I enjoy seeing it hanging on my porch. I also love the wide mouth opening for MUCH easier filling than my old feeder. The metal wire hanger is nice as it is easier to get onto the hook than the twisted plastic coated wire hanger that comes with most standard hummer feeders. However, I hung this feeder up at the first of April in the same location as my previous feeder has hung for over a decade, but rarely see a hummingbird use it. It is the only hummingbird feeder I have up right now, in order to give it the best chance for success, but my hummers just don't seem to be interested in it. I'll be going back to my red one, I guess.

    More Birds

Hi Kimberly, We are very sorry that you haven’t seen hummingbirds on your hummingbird feeder. Birds are creatures of habit, and it can take them days or even weeks to use a new feeder. There is something new in the yard that they are not used to, and they need to warm up to it first. Hummers like a place to perch and rest, so try to place your feeder near a bush or tree. Hummingbirds have a notorious affinity for the color red. That’s why red is used so predominantly on hummingbird feeders. Tying a red ribbon on your feeder that will move in the wind is one way to get their attention. Another way is to position your feeder within inches of a hanging plant that is attractive to hummers, such as fuchsia, where they’ll practically trip over the feeder. Once the hummers recognize the feeder as a food source, you can place it almost anywhere. Hummers are attracted by a wide variety of flowers. Some favorites are: American columbine, bee balm, bugleweed, butterfly milkweed, choral bean, coralberry, fuchsia, hibiscus, hollyhock, larkspur, lemon bottlebrush, mimosa tree, evening primrose, red buckeye, red impatiens, red salvia, sage tiger lily, trumpet honeysuckle, trumpet vine, weigela, and zinnia. We hope this information helps!

    Great feeder

Interesting that the colors not being the usual red still attracted the hummingbirds. I still have a more traditional up nearby, yet the birds go to both feeders equally. This feeder is easy to clean and fill and the birds seem to love it!
