Birds That Use This Feeder
Type Of Feed
I've had my Yankee Flipper for 10-15 years and it's still performing as well as it did the first day I hung it in my yard. It is excellent at deterring squirrels (although some of them never give up!), and a great feeder for birds. The only thing that has changed with the feeder over the years is that it's a little worse for the wear (I live in the NE; with NE winters). But Droll Yankee's customer support and the service they provide have assisted me each time I've had an issue with my feeder - from walking me through a tough time of dismantling the feeder/putting it back together, or with providing a new part, once they determine that that is what's causing my issue. They are truly the best!!
Definitely squirrel proof. Built very well. In the spring the feed lasted nine days where I live! In the fall about 3 days. I use Black Oil Sunflower seeds mixed with a little Sunflower hearts. It will be the last bird feeder I will ever need. Forever! It's is that good! And finally, it's entertaining to watch the squirrels ride!
This is THE BEST bird feeder I have ever found! The squirrels HATE it! Those tree rats cannot raid this feeder at all, and when they try to, what a show! The spinner is powerful. My search for the perfect feeder is over! I love this contraption. I have owned it for over 4 years and it is still going strong. I am going to buy more of them. Trust me, it is worth the price.
Have had this feeder 20 years and replaced the battery 3 times. Today i am replacing the tube it is not grandson proof. 5 star is for its durability, workmanship. our squirrels over the years have given up on trying. the seeds that fall on the ground attract doves.squirrels,rabbits. to watch the squirrels and rabbits jockey for position is hysterical. This feeder attracts a wide variety of bird and will say it is #1 for bird watching. Red tail hawks like the feeder too!
Hello Arthur, Thank you for contacting Droll Yankees. Are you using a mixed seed in your Yankee Flipper? If so, the smaller seeds such as milo or millet could be coming out of the feeder due to their size, which makes them fall out of the feeder more easily. We would recommend using exclusively black-oil sunflower seeds, as they stay inside the unit much better. If you are using a large seed and are still experiencing this problem, there could be possible damage to your silo assembly, the part that distributes the seed to the feeding holes. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-352-9164 and any one of our Customer Service Reps will be happy to assist you. Our hours are 7 am – 4:30 pm Mon-Fri (EST). Thank you for flying with our flock!
I bought this bird feeder over a year ago and it is fantastic. It does everything it promises. Actually the one I currently own withstood TWO black bear attacks and is still running. It’s a little beat up and I may replace it in the future but for now it still works!
