The Droll Yankees Jagunda Squirrel-Proof Bird Feeder with Auger offers a level of quality, design, versatility, and ease of use unlike any other bird feeder. This signature bird feeder features a unique squirrel-proof design that will keep squirrels frustrated. The feeder mounts securely to the included 5.5 ft. pole and features a no-tilt ground auger for added security.

Placement to deter squirrels: The key to keeping a bird feeder successfully squirrel-proofed is the placement. Place your bird feeder 4 feet from the ground and 8 feet from anything a squirrel can jump from. When hanging from a pole by a hook, it is recommended that the hook have at least a 16” distance from the pole. Placing a baffle on the pole or having a caged feeder will also help to ensure squirrel-proof success.

Cleaning: Dirty bird feeders spread disease. We recommend cleaning your feeders weekly, or monthly at a minimum. Do not put your feeder in the dishwasher as the high temperatures can permanently damage the feeder parts. Clean your feeders outdoors with a large bucket, and always wear gloves when cleaning. Soak your feeder in a 9:1 solution of water and bleach for 15 minutes. Then use a bird feeder brush to scrub the feeder with dish soap and water. Refill when completely dry.

Helpfulness
Best bird feeders I have ever had..

Best bird feeder I ever purchased. I’ve had this feeder approximately 10 years, it doesn’t look so good anymore due to the yellowing of the plastic but still works great the birds love it and the squirrels can’t get to it. I paced feeder on pole I made out of 3/4” aluminum pipe because I wanted feeder higher off the ground so deer wouldn’t empty it. Would highly recommend feeder although price is high you get what you pay for. Easy disassembly to clean out monthly although time consuming it protects the birds from disease. I have one recommendation make the holes in landing platform larger so water drains better when it rains and small seeds don’t clog up the holes. Glad to see feeder still in production the best one I ever purchased, I also have a flipper feeder which still works great to deter squirrels needed to replace battery once under warranty because it wouldn’t charge and was supplied for free from Droll Yankee. Key with pole mounted feeder is to place in an open area away from trees, the flipper doesn’t matter where you place in tree etc. as long as it’s high enough so deer don’t get to the feeder. Only negative also with flipper feeder is that the plastic has badly yellowed due to age but both still work great. Thanks Droll Yankee.

I bought this in 2021.

I bought this in 2021. I just went outside to take this apart so I could bring it into the house to clean it and fill it for the winter. It does not come apart. Seriously? Why would you design it this way? You have to clean it outside? Completely Impractical since it cannot be cleaned properly. For this price I am very disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback. To clean this feeder, you must first disassemble the Hopper Body and Gray Port. To do this, turn upside down and spread the clear prongs to disengage the Gray Port. Remember that to prevent the spread of disease, and to keep your feeder looking like new, the Jagunda should be disassembled and washed regularly with a mild soap solution. It can be disinfected using a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and hot water.
Jagunda Bird Feeder - something to think about in future construction

I was looking forward to getting my feeder. Have had several Droll Yankees products and have always been pleased. Set up this feeder in between existing feeders. Couldn't get birds to use it. I know it takes time to acclimate birds to a new feeder. What i found was that the landing surface was just too slick for them. I finally put duct tape all over the top and it seemed to help. Now the birds will come in and feed. I saw another review that mentioned this issue (but not before I purchased). Other than that, I am still pleased with the feeder. But makes you wonder if it was 'field tested' ? Definitely should have a different edge... the little guys would try to land and just kind of slide off.

Pigeon trouble

The enjoyed feeder for several years before the pigeons came. Now the pigeons sit in the feeder and clean it out. Any suggestions?

Very effective for offering seed and blocking squirrels

I'll start review with brief negatives though overall quite positive for me. The features list you put up is a bit misleading as to one aspect. The lid covering the see does protect the seed quite well from the elements. It does not, however, provide much protection from the elements (rain, snow) for the seed collecting in the feeding tray part. I mean, how could it, really? Unless the wet stuff is falling straight down, the seed in the feeding area will get wet. I try to overcome this to some extent by making the seed opening on the cylinder as small as possible. When it's really cold out I open this up a bit to lessen the energy expenditure of the birds in their food quest. Another negative is that on my first unit, one of the legs (of the three) of the base tripod broke at the weld, rendering the stance a tad unstable. I've overcome this with some rocks and wood wedges pounded in alongside the pole. I do not have the feeder charged with seed in warm weather (I'm in the Northeast), so when the ground softens up it doesn't matter to me. In response to comments on the slipperiness of the platform, I've noticed this as well, but my observation has been that the difficulty is only temporary. The birds seem to figure it out pretty quickly. My frequent/daily visitors lately have been house finches, cardinals, blue jays, black capped chickadees, house sparrows. Carolina wrens are coming as well, also getting to the separate suet feeder (protected by a cone shaped dome, also maybe a Droll Yankee product). Mourning doves sporadically. The ground position of course taken up by dark eyed juncos. I typically stop feeding when the troops of grackles appear in spring. They make short work of the seed stores. They are beautiful, but I leave them to their own devices. I have one jacunda and bought one as a gift for my bird watcher significant other. She loves it. PS: yes, the opening of the pole on top is an issue. Water will go down the tube, collect at the bottom and lead to corrosion. I believe there is a 4 inch or so plastic extension (threaded on top) which fits into the top of the pole for adding a tube feeder or something. Just slip this in and I think it solves the problem. Or, cover that hole with duct tape. Or, plug it with a bit of clay, maybe even a gob of packed plumber's putty.

Squirrel figured it out!

I was excited to receive my Jagunda bird feeder. It is attractive and holds a lot of seeds. I am hoping to get a nice population of birds this winter. Those are the pleased comments. For the price of the item I think that you could afford to send a better printed copy of assembly instructions. The print on my instructions was faint to missing entirely. I had to figure out how to assemble pretty much by guess and by gosh. Also checked Google and :YouTube for instructions, but found none. Buy some ink or a new printer please. As to the item itself, once together it looked nice, but my concern is that the pole is open at the top and will allow rain and snow to get inside the pole. Because there is no drainage at the bottom of the pole I am concerned that over time it will be damaged from accumulation of ice, snow and rain. Am I missing a part that should close the top? I placed the bird feeder 8 feet from the nearest tree. It took a week for the squirrel to figure out it could jump that far and land on top and then shimmy over the edge. I have moved the bird feeder to a spot that is tree free and eight feet from any structure. We will see if the squirrel decides to jump off the roof of the house to get to the feeder.

This is a large capacity feeder which has the ability to restrict the seed flow into the tray. This is very effective in reducing seed waste. The feeder also protects seed from moisture in the feeder so no more seed clogs and nasty mold. Very happy with this feeder.

Cardinal Feeder

This is a well made feeder that the squirrels and chipmunks haven't been able to access, one of the primary reasons for purchasing it. The other reason was to encourage the cardinals to our yard. We currently have a Squirrel Buster, a great feeder, but the cardinals don't like to sit on the perch ring, and only eat what can be found on the ground under it. The new feeder has been up for about a month now, and the finches love it, but the cardinals don't even seem to notice that it's there. I'm hoping that will change! Also, the cap to cover the pole was not included in the package, and I noticed from another review that there should be one. Could I get one, please?

We used 2 of these for years. They worked very well to keep squirrels out, but a bear finally discovered them and demolished them!
