Cleaning: Dirty bird feeders spread disease. We recommend cleaning your feeders weekly, or monthly at a minimum. Do not put your feeder in the dishwasher as the high temperatures can permanently damage the feeder parts. Clean your feeders outdoors with a large bucket, and always wear gloves when cleaning. Soak your feeder in a 9:1 solution of water and bleach for 15 minutes. Then use a bird feeder brush to scrub the feeder with dish soap and water. Refill when completely dry.
2 Year Manufacturing Warranty: Register your product online here. Once you register, the Forever Promise covers all feeders, accessories and components from manufacturing and materials defects for 2 years or 24 months from date of purchase. Droll Yankees will repair or replace, at its discretion, any manufacturing defect in these products free of charge. The Forever Promise does not cover damage through normal wear and tear, weather, or bear, raccoon or other animal damage.
Lifetime Squirrel-Damage Warranty: If your feeder is badly damaged by squirrels, to the extent that the effectiveness of the feeder is compromised, The Forever Promise also includes a lifetime warranty against squirrel-damage on all our products.
Birds That Use This Feeder
Type Of Feed
Love how easy this is to fill and clean! I don’t bother with niger thistle in my feeders as the birds here just kick it out when mixed with other seed, or ignore it when served alone. I put fine sunflower seed in and the downies and finches, creating a place for them to feed when other feeders are too crowded. The tray did come unscrewed from the feeder and something carried off the actual screw—but that and whether birds eat from it or not isn’t the feeders fault! :)

My finch friends are happy
Excellent experience. I had your older version of this feeder & it gave out after 7 years of use. Thanks for improving on the previous version & making it even easier to fill & to keep clean. Birds are loving their new feeder.
Now a favorite!
I had 2 metal mesh feeders (another brand) for several years. After one was damaged, (we're thinking bear based on other damage), we replaced it with this one. Birds were using it within a few days, and now they seem to prefer this one over their old one. It appears to be made just as well, and the slotted cover I was using with the old one is not a perfect fit, but does the trick. Should I decide to add a third nyger seed feeder, I would definitely make this my first consideration. I use a finch blend, and have a multitude of daily goldfinch, house finch, purple finch visitors as well as an occasional chickadee, nuthatch and tufted titmouse grabbing a seed (though these three last ones are usually spotted at one of my other feeders).
I am not sure why this has one star. It did take a couple of weeks for the birds to warm up to the change, but I really love this feeder. It is constructed very solid, it looks nice hanging in our yard. I have so many finches (I finally have my first Gold Finch!!!) and little birds who love this feeder
Onyx Clever Clean® 18 in Finch Magnet Feeder (CC18FM) I have had this feeder, Onyx Clever Clean thistle feeder, up for about a month. I have never seen a bird eat from this feeder. I think they like my black sunflower feeders more.
Hello Alan, Thank you for contacting Droll Yankees. We are very sorry that you are not seeing birds on your new feeder. Birds are creatures of habit, and it can take them days or even weeks to use a new feeder. There is something new in the yard that they are not used to, and they need to warm up to it first. Temporarily placing the feeder near a shrub or tree where birds will feel safe can also encourage them to explore the new feeder. Adding something like a colorful ribbon can also help, as the movement in the wind can make the birds feel like another bird has found the feeder to be safe. We would suggest temporarily removing other feeders in the area so that the birds must use the new one. Oddly enough, filling the feeder half-full seems to help attract the birds to the new feeder. We hope that the birds begin to use the feeder soon, and please keep us updated!
