Totally pleased with both ease of installation and performance. We have ground squirrels who are so far totally flummoxed by this device....and we're very amused watching them be thwarted!

This thing is amazing! I have tried everything to keep the chipmunks off of my bird feeder. I used a regular squirrel baffle last year and while it did work it looked awful as it was always covered in bird **** that no amount of scrubbing could remove after it baked in the hot sun. This little gadget is keeping them away and you can’t even tell that it’s there. I seriously love this thing!

Racoons broke it
It worked for a brief time but racoons dragged it down and the internal spring detached from the inadequate bent-metal anchor. A good starting point for a product but needs re-thinking.

Squirrel slinky and Pole envy
Just what I wanted. The slinky with the pole envy together work very well. I did need to reposition the slinky once and then it was very effective. I also purchased two additional wrap style pole arms so I have three items hanging on one pole. It is very near a tree and squirrels can get to the pole. I made a wire extension on one of the items so the squirrels could not reach it from the top or the bottom. It took a couple of adjustments before I got the heights working effectively. Not a big deal. It was fun watching the squirrels try and succeed and seeing how I could make it work. I very much like how the pole and slinky together work to keep my yard looking simple and clean. It is not as distracting as the cone type baffles. They are a bit pricy and well worth it because they are well made durable and beat the other options out there . We watch the animals from our kitchen window daily. They give much enjoyment, entertainment, and connection to the natural world.

Disappointing; when installed as directed the Varmint Cong can jumped above slinky, then into the feeder. I’ll try moving the slinky up the pole closer to feeder. It’s a clever idea but sort of a waste of money as is. The slinky also tends to slide down the pole. A heavier O ring might solve this problem.
Hello Kevin, Thank you for contacting Droll Yankees. I am sorry that you’re having no success at all deterring squirrels from your feeders. Squirrels are so clever and relentless and it seems sometimes that they’re smarter than most other animals. One of the biggest challenges to feeding wild birds—our own challenge too—is deterring squirrels. We work on a daily basis to create quality products and cultivate good advice that will help us all win this fight. I can completely sympathize with your squirrel frustration. My goal is to help restore your faith in our products by offering you some squirrel-proof advice. The key to successfully keeping a feeder squirrel-proof is its placement. Squirrels are agile and are able to jump up to 8ft horizontally and 4ft vertically. For this reason, we recommend that feeders be placed 8ft away from any structures that they can climb on, so that they do not reach across to access the feeding holes. It can be helpful to trim back and prune any nearby bushes or branches within 12ft of a feeder. We also recommend that feeders be placed higher than 4ft off the ground, preventing the squirrels from jumping and grabbing onto the bottom. If you are using a hook or pole, we recommend that the hook have at least a 16in distance from the pole. Placing a baffle on the pole will also help to ensure squirrel-proofing success. If you make sure to properly place any of our squirrel-proof feeders, I am confident that you will start having success in deterring the squirrels. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-352-9164 and any one of our Customer Service Reps will be happy to assist you. Our hours are 7 am – 4:30 pm Mon-Fri (EST). We hope this helps you get back to feeding birds and thwarting squirrels!
