Cleaning: Please! For the sake of the birds, keep your feeder clean! Dirty feeders spread disease. We recommend disinfecting your nectar feeders every three to five days, or more frequently if you notice your nectar has become cloudy. Soak all parts in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Use a bird feeder brush to brush away grime inside the feeder.
Bought this about 3 weeks ago at our Wal-Mart store. Took it home, washed it out, filled it with 32 oz of nectar hung it in a tree out side. In 3 days the feeder was empty. WOW I thought. "Those birds must be hungry". Filled it with 16 oz of nectar this time back in the tree it went. The wind blew and as the feeder was swaying in the wind a waterfall of nectar was sloshing out from it. Funny thing was it wasn't coming from the 5 ports it was coming from where the bottom clear container and the red flower part was. The top where the flower ports are remained dry as a bone. Took the 40 oz container back into the house checked the tightness of the clear bowl and it was tight. Replaced the nectar with water and turned it upright and thought there must be a crack somewhere. NOPE.... After a day of being upright no water had leaked out. No cracks at all dry as a bone. Went to turn it upside down and the water spilled out after turning it at a angle all over the counter. The issue I discovered was that there was a stop on the red plastic and the clear bowl that does not allow for a tight seal. A gasket or removal of the lip on the red flower port part would clearly resolve the issue. I spoke to a customer care rep at morebirds(dot)com. he said well then don't fill it to full when the wind is blowing.... Extremely bad way to correct a problem. He also suggested I go back to Wal-Mart and buy another. THAT AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN due to a bad design. Now we are out the cost of a high priced inadequate feeder. Sad experience indeed.

If you have alot of birds this is the feeder for you. We have ALOT of hummingbirds at our house and this is my go to feeder for keeping those little guys full. It has a large mouth for filling, a great ant moat and plenty of seats for the birds. The birds love it and I can fill it and just sit in the front yard and watch them feast.

I love your Big Gulp Hummingbird feeders! I now have 10 of them, 7 are hanging up at any one time, one I accidentally cracked a longer time ago, and I keep 2 in reserve so that I can make hummer juice, let it cool and take it out and swap it with the ones that are low. Not only saves me a set of trips to the garden but also ensures that no hummer will go unfed while their juice is cooling! The Big Gulp feeders are perfect for the 4-cup water: 1 cup sugar ratio, and are very easy to clean, a big MUST for me. Thank you
