Placement to deter squirrels: The key to keeping a bird feeder successfully squirrel-proofed is the placement. Place your bird feeder 4 feet from the ground and 8 feet from anything a squirrel can jump from. When hanging from a pole by a hook, it is recommended that the hook have at least a 16” distance from the pole. Placing a baffle on the pole or having a caged feeder will also help to ensure squirrel-proof success.
Cleaning: Dirty bird feeders spread disease. We recommend cleaning your feeders weekly, or monthly at a minimum. Do not put your feeder in the dishwasher as the high temperatures can permanently damage the feeder parts. Clean your feeders outdoors with a large bucket, and always wear gloves when cleaning. Soak your feeder in a 9:1 solution of water and bleach for 15 minutes. Then use a bird feeder brush to scrub the feeder with dish soap and water. Refill when completely dry.

Did keep the squirrels out but you can't clean it
Yes, the squirrels did figure out how to chew off the rubber stopper and nod a little bit on the plastic top. That didn't really bother me. But what did bother me is, I couldn't clean it well! A little bit of the tiny black seed, got between the metal and the plastic and whenever I cleaned it, it just stayed wet. So that means it's going to grow mold! I finally just threw the thing out. I couldn't clean it. I tried but since you can't take it apart, you can't clean it well. If it could be taken apart, it could be an excellent design! Yes, I used a bucket and soaked it. Scrubbed it with the brush the best I could. But due to the design, you can't get in there and actually clean it well! Just a breeding ground for germs.

My squirrels are smarter than yours.
The squirrel got it open in no time, rubber stopper didn't work. I tried twist ties but as the photos show that didn't work. The top came apart. This happened in less than a week.

Love the overall look but the design could have been more thoughtful. Squirrel resistant but no more than that. They chewed through the “locking mechanism” on the first day because it’s just a rubber washer and were able to chew up the top part of the tube. It’s also effectively impossible to clean well. I had to completely take the cage apart and find a new way to keep it together so that I can take everything apart to clean it well. It does keep the squirrels out aside from that

Love it, Squirrels don't.
It was fun watching the gray trying to get into it. Finally gave up.
Combination Bird Feeder and Squirrel Frustrator Jungle Gym
Squirrels are clever little creatures. I've tried numerous bird feeders to keep the squirrels at bay. This one is so simple and works very well. The squirrels, used to their breakfast/lunch/dinner trips to my feeders, grow increasingly frustrated climbing up over around this new piece of playground equipment. (Perhaps I'm projecting.) I've ordered a second of this model to replace my other feeder.
